Cary,

I think the SOF mystery is solved. It's an internet play, but one that I think is barren.

A story came out Friday on SOF that two of the founders of @Home are coming to SOF.

SOF's current play on internet is as follows from the last 10K:

The Internet services segment provides Internet access as well as World Wide Web and database development. It is also a provider of Internet services over the cable television infrastructure to consumers and businesses. The segments primary service offering, the ISP ChannelSM, allows small to middle market cable and wireless cable operators to connect their subscribers to the Internet via cable modems. For businesses, the segment offers services which provide a platform for Internet and Intranet connectivity solutions and networked business applications over both cable infrastructure and leased telecommunication lines.

By combining an Internet distributed architecture with cable and telephone technology, MCW services provide a compelling platform for nationwide delivery of network-based business applications.

Hiring the founders of @Home is interesting. @Home generates a great deal of hype (AKA good press and PR) but the company hasn't really done squat. Guess these two guys are going to kick start internet initiatives at SOF despite the fact they couldn't do it at @Home.

Can you believe it, I somehow ended up investing in the cable internet hype! That's scary. Time to take a profit and run...

Cary - ISTN. Did you get any? I didn't think the news was as great as it's being perceived in the market. Need to keep an eye on it...wonder if people are thinking it can compete with APCO? We both feel differently but it got the spike I've been waiting for in APCO.
