<<There is no question that CPQ has the leadership position>>
While the trend is good, are we sure that Compaq has the leadership position in PROFITS even just for the Pentium II machines mentioned in this news? How significant it among the total profits? Is Dell increasing their profits faster or slower than Compaq right now?

Compaq has the leadership in market share for a while but someone else has been making a much better profit. How about the bottom line -- income/profits? I welcome the good news IF the result will come out showing it. We will see.

I was not using the Pentium II example or other reported facts to suggest a "clearcut" case that Dell will be a winner for pentium II machines or overall products at the latest round, but to point out the pattern of Dell's product strategy, which has been working better for them at least until now. I do believe that an excellent product in its category will enhance the value of a brand name and help to sell more products at a better profit. Of course Dell and Compaq's success depends more than their product strategy. Still it is a very important part. I paid more attention to it here because it is the easiest to for me to understand.
