Whatever works for you

There is no 'right' or 'wrong' approach. The key is flexibility and finding a style you're comfortable with. I think OT is very capable of matching just about any trading style one might adopt.

In general I like to follow stocks which I think have superior long-term growth prospects and let OT suggest trading entry points for them. I get a lot of the companies I follow from various "best pick" lists published by authors or publications I respect. For example, the June issue of Wired has a list of 40 stocks which in their opinion represent the "New Economy". The one or two I wasn't already following I added. The SI "Hot Subject" list can also be a source for selecting promising candidates (though obviously some heavy screening and judgement is often required).

I can't stress enough that the thing I like most about OT is that thanks to it I finally have a systematic way of dealing with "interesting stock ideas" that I run across. Before using OT I might look at a chart and say "Gee, that's nice, but I don't know". Now if I like the story and think it has any chance of success it just drops onto my list where I know it won't get lost in the shuffle. I know of no other product which allows one to follow stocks like this.

Have you played around with the Master Profile feature of OT 3.5 yet? It sounds very useful but as I stated before I really don't have the horsepower to play around with many of the advanced features of the program.
