Puma is the defacto standard for this technology.......PUMA really doesn't have any competition at this point and security isn't an issue since the technology is being used on DIGITAL networks. Lastly their was an article last week stating that ERICSSON has been in SILICON VALLEY looking to acquire.......word on the street is its PUMA

Microsoft's ActiveSync software provides automatic and continuous synchronization between any palm-pc running Windows CE and desktop or server running Windows. Puma's Intellisync appears to be usable with a wider array of handheld digital devices, outside of the WinCE universe.
