they still have to time execute trades, they cannot just fill each other, after they fill a cronie trade they have to fill the next market order in the que, so they eventually have to fill the order before they can fill another mm order, this pattern is definitely watched by sec, therefore they can control some trading but not all of it.

the best escape is through nasdaq listing, or just owning the majority of the float, because at any time, news or major announcement can bury them. they dont play for long term they just play daily spreads, they make their money on the quick market.
