I want to add that the MM's management of the trading in a stock I do not think is "simple" or formulistic. I think it must take allot of experience to be a good MM and intelligently manage the risks associated with trading in this way particularly in different market conditions and markets themselves do change. This is why I do not understand when I meet traders who think that this can be all computerized. If there was this much money at stake, where for instance literally millions of dollars can be traded within one hour, would you as a MM firm entrust a computer program to do this job for you? This is why I think even though the markets may end up being computer assisted, it will never be completely computerized. No company would be foolish enough to agree to this type of market. But I am sure there are allot of traders who are not MMs and would never want to take on the role and associated risks of a MM themselves that would like such a market.

Comments anyone?
