Graham...to be honest...I haven't found any company/sector I'd be willing to bet the front porch on. In this case, safety is a relative thing....at the top of the potentially catastrophic list are banks, insurance, and brokerages....at the lesser end are maybe biotechs, specialty retailers, etc...all of which you can easily punch a hole in. Pardon the analogy, but Y2K is looking a bit like AIDS...yeah, you're clean and practice "safe sex"...but what about your partner, and their partner? There's just no way to be completely safe...other than abstinence.
So it's starting to look like "cash is king" for the next 12-18 months. If the Y2K problem becomes as wide-spread as many predict, it's going to bring on a bear market....and it'll be damn near impossible to make $$$ in equities.
