Paul,

What kind of computer do you have right now?

How many times a year do you upgrade, so that your computer keeps up with your creativity?

RE:"creative people buy the best available PCs to help them be more creative."

Paul,

I find that I need at least 600 MHz to run Silicon Investor on IE4.0. If I want the Weather Channel forecast simultaneously, I'm sure it will require at least a gigahertz and 4 CPU's.

My understanding is that Shakespeare and Einstein both had top of the line Intel systems to assist them in their creative endeavors. You or Yousef should be able to confirm this, since you were pretty tight with those guys.

If Dan Quayle had a $4000 Xeon with 2MB L2 he probably would have caught that nasty "potatoe" thing in time.

BTW: When I want to do real work I do it on my Ultrasparc under Solaris. There is no substitute for a real computer running a real OS.

Paul,

I'm trying out a 200 MHz Winchip processor running real time price streaming for 20 different stocks from StockEdge Online. It's a great program and I find that the processor is able to keep up with each downtick of INTC, which is not a small feat these days. It makes me feel remarkably creative.

Paul,

You make a good point. For those who believe they need the very latest in technology - with money being no object, then INTC is the chip to go for. For the humble masses who aren't creative enough to benefit from the overpriced INTC chip - we have NSM.

Reality is funny. Despite what many think, price is important to many
(ergo the VW bug of the 60's and today). If your only interest is
getting from point to point, then the VW is just fine.

BTW: Did your 400 mhz allow you to type your post faster? Let's face it. Until we get more (always more!) bandwidth in the network, your
400 mhz isn't worth the extra money you paid for it. If you like the
instant gratification that most creative souls like, then you have the
perfect machine for viewing your CAD generated solid cubes.
