DT Ships Mini Evaluation Board For RC36100 Microprocessor

Designers of Communications Equipment Benefit From Small Board Size

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 26, 1998--IDT (NASDAQ:IDTI - news) today unveiled a
complete evaluation and development platform for the company's RC36100(TM) integrated microprocessor.

The IDT 79S361ST(TM) evaluation board measures a mere 3 x 2.5 inches and enables engineers to immediately
download, execute and develop code utilizing the development software included with the board. The evaluation
board is ideal for communications applications, including cellular base stations, satellite receivers, cable modems,
laser printers and private mobile radios.

''The two principal benefits of IDT's RC36100 are the significant system real estate savings and accelerated
time-to-market for the customer's system,'' said Phil Bourekas, director of marketing for the microprocessor division
at IDT. ''These are achieved through very high on-chip integration and the use of the best-selling, industry-standard
MIPS(R) architecture. Designers can use the reference design schematics for their own designs, thus reducing their
overall time-to-market while saving board space, system cost and power. The designer also benefits from an
excellent device price/performance ratio, which translates to improved product capability.''

The board comes as part of a kit with IDT's system integration software (IDT/sim) embedded in an on-board,
electrically erasable programmable memory (EEPROM). The IDT/sim simplifies software development and utilizes a
debugging monitor that supports download of code from the host system, diagnostics, execution control commands,
memory probing and I/O. The board contains 4 MBytes of non-interleaved dynamic random access memory
(DRAM) and 512 KBytes of EEPROM.

The board is constructed using both through-hole and surface mount devices on a 3 x 2.5-inch PCB and is intended
for use as a stand-alone bench-top device. The 79S361ST requires only a CRT terminal and a standard personal
computer-style power source for operation.

Each evaluation board is shipped with a documentation kit that includes complete schematics. Also provided are
compiler and debugger software, and a comprehensive user's manual with instructions for downloading code,
operating IDT/sim and setting the timing for interfacing additional hardware.

Kit Availability

A complete IDT79S361ST evaluation kit, including an installed RC36100, is currently available for $499 and is
shipping in quantity.
