Search Results Pages Integrate Updated, Relevant Content Into
Easy-to-Understand Format

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Excite, Inc. (Nasdaq:
XCIT) today announced a major evolution in Internet search, intelligently
integrating updated, relevant content directly on the search results page. To date,
search results have pointed users to Web pages that may or may not contain the
information they are looking for, forcing users to hunt for answers. Leveraging
its exclusive Jango technology, Excite search results now help users get the
answers they're looking for more quickly and easily.

Accessible from any search box on www.excite.com, Excite Search augments its
classic Web results with general company or product information, current news
articles and links to top sites from Excite's directory. For example, a user doing a
search for Netscape (Nasdaq: NSCP) or Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), would
receive a results page with live, updated content including stock price and
activity, contact address for the company's headquarters, links to official
corporate Web sites and links to the latest news about the company. The new
results page also includes a selection of relevant, hyperlinked results from
Excite's directory of top sites on the Web and a list of URLs utilizing Excite's
powerful search engine technology and taken from a regularly updated index of
more than 50 million Web pages.

A version of the new Excite Search results will be incorporated directly into
Netscape's next browser release, Communicator 5.0, as well as into the
co-branded NetCenter search service Excite is currently creating for Netscape.

"Excite continues to maintain its focus on search because there is a vast opening
in the market to deliver more relevant results, integrating content that makes
sense to millions of frustrated search engine users," said George Bell, president
and CEO, Excite, Inc. "Excite Search continues to serve as a very strong driver
of traffic on the network, and gives us the ability to program excellent content
successfully to millions of search users."

Excite's new search results format initially integrates stock quotes, company
information, events schedules, game scores, current news and product
information onto its search results pages. Excite will be integrating more content
onto results pages in the coming months, meeting the expectations and needs of
millions of users who depend on Excite Search everyday for intelligent answers.

Search for Information on Publicly Traded Companies and Sports

The first types of Excite Search enhanced with content are publicly traded
companies and sports. Excite is aggressively rolling out an extensive list of
categories including locations, books, music, movies, colleges and more in the
coming months.

Searching for Sports Scores and Information Made Easy by Excite Search

When searching on a specific sports team such as the San Francisco Giants,
users get a search results page that includes scores from the latest games, the
current schedule of upcoming games, links to official team Web sites, as well as
links to top sites from Excite's directory and traditional Web results. If a fan
searches for a team with a game in progress, Excite Search will bring back the
current score, updated every 20 seconds and where available, a hyperlink to join
a Webcast of the game live. Results brought back on sports topics also include
links to box scores, league standings, player profiles, league information, current
news stories related to the topic and color photographs from recent games.
