Good Morning Donald,
I plan to meditate on Bethlehem at work today, it is a very interesting point. Share with me any thoughts you might have on this. I think it is interesting that booth daughters in law wanted to stay with her in the beginning and then only Ruth really clung to the blessing and was in the blood line of King David and eventually the Messiah. God is so faithful and good to all who love Him. Naomi says in 1:13 It is more bitter for me than for you because the Lords hand has gone out against me. I see the pain of the persecution Israel has had.
Chapter 4:4 I will redeem it, he said.(Boaz)Messiah is the redeemer of the Nations. Verses 9-10 Then Boaz announced to the elders and all the people. "Today you are witnesses that I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelech, Killion and Mahlon. I have also ACQUIRED RUTH the Moabitess, Mahlons widow as my wife (the Bride of Christ).
He is blessing Naomi while purchasing Ruth. Wow! Also this year of Jubilee is a time when we can study the way God divides the portions of land and inheritance and Ruth is a book that shows part of His plan for inheritance.
I have to go now please share more,
Nancy
