Company Press Release

Customer Demand Reaches 100,000 Mark for Buyer's Advantage
Program

Offering U S WEST Local and Qwest Long-Distance Service

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 27, 1998--U S WEST Communications and Qwest today announced that 100,000
customers have signed up for the U S WEST Buyer's Advantage program.

This new marketing alliance -- launched just under three weeks ago on May 7 -- offers customers the simplicity and
convenience of going to one source to meet all their local and long-distance telecommunications needs.

With the U S WEST Buyer's Advantage program, customers in U S WEST's 14-state region can purchase U S WEST local
service with the option of signing up for Qwest state-to-state long distance at a rate of 10-cents-per-minute, 24 hours a day,
seven days a week. Rates for business customers can be lower depending on usage, and all customers receive one simplified
bill containing both local and long-distance charges.

''Customers are signing up in droves because Buyer's Advantage offers them the value and simplicity they've long wanted,''
said Solomon D. Trujillo, president and CEO of U S WEST Communications. ''The bottom line is that customers are winning
here, with greater convenience and choice. It's unfortunate the big long-distance companies seem bent on shutting this program
down. If they are truly interested in offering customers better value, they should match it in the marketplace, instead of trying to
block it in the courts.''

''Buyer's Advantage has been available to customers for less than three weeks and the fact that 100,000 customers in U S
WEST's region have signed up for the service, speaks volumes about the value this service creates for consumers,'' said
Joseph P. Nacchio, president and CEO of Qwest. ''Despite lawsuits from AT&T, MCI and others attempting to block
programs like U S WEST's Buyer's Advantage, customers have issued a strong testimonial supporting customer choice and
competition in the long-distance marketplace.''

As part of the marketing alliance, Qwest and U S WEST offer customers the following:

With a single call, customers can choose a package that includes local services from U S WEST and an option of
long-distance service from Qwest;
Greatly simplified pricing on interstate long distance from Qwest: 10(cent)-a-minute, 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week,
with no hidden charges or fine print commonly associated with other long-distance offers. In-state long-distance calls
handled by Qwest are at a flat 12(cent)-a-minute;
One bill containing customers' local and long-distance charges, and a single point of contact to handle customer service
requests.

Residential customers interested in the U S WEST Buyer's Advantage program can call 1-800/244-1111. Business customers
can call 1-800/603-6000.

Other qualified long-distance companies, interested in providing the same value to customers, have the opportunity to join the
program.
