Your downside in SRGN is even greater if the merger is not consummated. SRGN ran up the 5 days before the announcement (over 30% from the level it is trading at now). Hope it works out for you.

JO, I have been away. I assume you saw Russian Bears comments which I fully agree with. Your correct on the tax free exchange, which could give you long term capital gains if you held the LGND for the required period. Assuming the bonus gets paid and is in stock, again you could hold for the long term. I should have made note of that in my post to RB on tax treatment. I assumed cash payouts or sale of stock when received in that discussion.
