High emotions here! Don't worry -- I'm gone. In answer to questions, as I said about six months ago, I'm in a blind trust now so that I can write articles without conflict of interest. I still think Tava is a good buy, and believe companies will need to do remediation, both for functionality and insurance. (When I've told people to buy low, it is because of the sudden and irrational panic I see on this thread whenever the price dips.) This does not mean I believe that the nation will grind to a halt, or that most of the scenarios described and linked to here are real. I do not believe in the accuracy of most of the Senate testimony, nor the kinds of rantings on the Gary North site. Truly, there is insanity on this thread. The suspicions people have of "shorts and MMs" compounds with the self-satisfied arrogance of apocalypse-advocates to amplify knee-jerk pathology and minimize strategy and sense. My suggestion that the millennial fever might be based on something other than technology -- and this is something that, as an author of six books about technology and culture as well as a two-year-running NYTimes Syndicated column, I really do know about -- is taken here as a threat both to investing and religious foundations. Too bad. Whose enemy am I supposed to be? As I've said from the beginning, it's difficult to invest in something that depends on "bad things" happening. That's probably partly responsible for the frayed nerves on this site. It doesn't feel good to wish for a meltdown, nor to have one's investments dependent on one. Sorry if I've offended anyone's sensibilities. (And, yes, I've done some assembly language and programming for rom, but only in the university setting.) It's been nice chatting with many of you this past year or so. Stay calm, alert, critical, and rational. Good investing!
