Obelix / Barrington,

One further thought. I get the sense the management is reactive -- they are reacting to events rather than anticipating them. Last year they started to emphasize heavy oil, after people were already publicly commenting that differentials were unfavourable and expected to stay that way. Now Barrington is looking at shut in heavy oil production.

This year they are talking about swapping for natural gas properties. I know it's easy to sit here and judge them in hindsight, but it seems to me that perspicacious management would have been looking at that last year, when gas properties were relatively less expensive compared to the oil properties that Barrington wants to use as currency.

Barrington is bumping along with the pack during these tough times, and I haven't (yet) bailed out of my position. But there is a growing sense that this is not the best management team in the patch. And in these tough times, the premium on good management keeps rising.
