TOBACCO

Gary Black and Martin Feldman are two of the most-quoted and, at least in business circles, most
highly respected financial analysts of the American tobacco industry.
.......
But until now, they've managed to avoid getting swept into the political maelstrom surrounding
tobacco in Washington. But any detachment they may have enjoyed ended recently when Black and
Feldman were attacked as tobacco industry "advocates" by a major anti-smoking organization in
Washington.
.......
Black, reached for comment last week, said, "Rather than attack our numbers, they attacked us. We must
have gotten too close to home."
