here's an idea:

the fat cat is getting put on a diet because it can no longer out run the market. Compaq, on the other hand, is already skin and bones.

Essentially, you had two major rallies for DELL today. One that went to $88 and the other that brought it to $85-86 with 15 minutes left. Each flopped. Not a good sign.
