Sorry Judy,

I don't have my conference call notes here at work.
According to this news story it should
be dilutive initially with a 2 to 3 cent charge on completion..

techweb.com

Lisle, Ill.-based Tellabs said it will take a one-time
charge of 2 cents to 3 cents a share with the acquisition,
adding to earnings in 1998 and 1999. Wall Street is
expecting Tellabs to report first quarter earnings of
35 cents a share. In the fourth quarter, Tellabs reported
earnings of 42 cents a share, a penny ahead of estimates.

TLAB wants Coherent for its international echo cancellation business.
Most of TLAB's sales in echo cancellation is domestic. This gives
TLAB more exposure to Asia on completion of the merger if I remember
right. I can't remember Coherent's geographic break down of sales.

I only had a chance to glance quickly at the news today and
I don't see news to explain the drop so far in the telecom
sector. It appears to be general profit taking on all
the high flyers. Have you found any industry specific news?

The ADCT conference call suggested that the outlook
going forward was quite positive.
