<Until now, no Alladin V chipset (made by Acer) motherboard has worked at 100 MHz bus speed, only VIA MVP3 boards worked. The existence of two working competing chipsets is a necessary condition for some of the Tier I manufacturers to use the K6-2.>

I bet even 1 chipset would be enough, if the supplier could demonstrate adaquite quality levels. The fact that a few boards work isn't nearly enough. IBM-Compaq etc will need proof, and that doesn't mean Anands website. The supplier will need to demonstrate well above 99% of their product meet the specs at 100mhz. Probably greater than 99.9%. Thats still 1000 dpm, which is considered pretty bad by todays standards.
