I checked with my broker after getting home re: the SOR date, and like others have said today the SOR date = settlement date, i.e. if you didn't purchase by today you're out of the dividend. I agree that the P's are still the best buy at this time however.

Brokers are a bunch of idiots that wish they knew how to make money in stocks.

In any case MIDLP divendend is history if you didn't buy today. Nevertheless it is still worth in excess of $50 based on the conversioan. At the end of trading today it was wortjh in excess of $70.

1) MIDLW : do You know when precicely when the reduction in exercise price to $0.50 will take effect, when the conversion period will start and whether the old $2.50 ceiling was wiped out, replaced or made mandatory ?

Answer: the TA is saying now today. Your broker has to handle that for you.

2) MIDLP : question here is the settlement period. If one bought MIDLP say tomorrow or Thursday. Does he qualify for the dividend ? What can such a person do to qualify ?

Answer: if you have P in your account on the close of May 29, 1998 then you get the dividend. The DTC will have that on their DTC report.

In the next month or so people are going to be as they have since I started accumulating the P regret they did not go long on the P .. Once a JV or deal is done with a MAJOR corporation then guess where the instituional buying is going to go?
