gud diy myte. I think translations will yield to brute force in 2-3 years. Once they have enough memory and CPU power to look at all arrangements and compare them with monster lists of words, nuances etc they will be able to make a system to fool most people. What happens is the first system fools no-one, and then they start to fool kids, and they get better from there. They will probably never reach over 99%, but that is good enough for 99% of people.
The typing from voice is now around95% and getting better. STill screws up on homonyms, but more context smarts will fix that. The minimum is a pentium 233MMX with 64Meg memory. Dragon naturally speaking is 95% plus in a quiet room for most speakers.
