Yes that's true. My undergraduate work was in microprocessor design and my graduate work was signal processing. I have done straight engineering using both skillsets for most of my career but eventually one has to drift into the ranks of management to keep that old career path humming. I still do some 'real' engineering but not as much as I would like to do. And beavis is right, a lot of the guys on my team resemble dilbert in more ways than one. BTW I knew scott when he was still working at PAC BELL in San Ramon and Dilbert was just a xerox passed around at lunchtime, a very funny guy.
