Paul, thanks for your response. I believe the charging circuits for liquid can be used also for polymer if the cathode and anode materials are the same. There would be a difference for the cobalt-cathode versions (3.6 volts vs 3.8 volts for Manganese Oxide). It should be feasible for Valence to switch to Cobalt for such applications.

Regarding market size, I remember a statement last fall that Valence would consider it a milestone to achieve 5% of the world market. It would only be through alliances, licensing agreements etc that manufacturing capacity could grow at a sufficient rate to achieve a major market share. The statement probably included cellphone applications, which would suggest a greater % (perhaps 15%) of the portable computer market if all their capacity were directed there.

It would be helpful to know the portable sales projections for various computer manufacturers.

Paul: In regards to your assertion that chargers for li-poly batteries are different then those for other chemistries is correct. From my very recent conversation w/a company CEO that makes chargers, li-poly chargers must be able to balance all the cells that go into the make up of a complete battery & that takes circuitry that is different from a charger that does, say Ni-Me-Hyd. The complexity of doing this isn't all that difficult but if it isn't done right....POOF!!! An interesting thought...how many chargers are out there that are applicable to VLNC technology?? Suppose there aren't that many suppliers of Li-Poly chargers
capable of doing the volume needed to address this potentially huge market!! What does a potential VLNC customer do if he can't get the charger to go along with his new battery...will he still buy the battery? Anybody that can address this this potential paradox please jump in...I should have asked the question when I had him on the phone!
