Even though his actions were not wise, I feel sorry for him. So many people have been sucked in by the above average returns and let greed rule them to their own hurt. All of us have had our moments, I'm sure though we might be tempted to view such acts as dunderheaded. He'll recover and hopefully be the better for it. There's a lot worse things than losing money -- even borrowed money. I think even if the market declines 200 or 300 points there will be a dip rally. People haven't got the message yet -- BUT THEY WILL!
