Arnie, the rumor of an additional stock offering or more debt may have started with this Klein fellow, but it was wide spread. A brokerage I use in Seattle had heard it and had contacted Nextel IR, which said that the rumor was without merit and there was no plan in the foreseeable future to issue more stock or incur additional debt.
I believe that someone on this thread also contacted Nextel IR on the rumor and received the same response.

What else can I say about a guy who not too long ago was saying that NXTL would go to 1000?

When Craig McCaw had just bought in to NXTL (or CALL as it was then), I called Klein for his opinion of the stock. He had been big on the stock during its previous run up to 55. Klein tried talking me out of buying the NXTL, and urged me to look at some other little stock he was big on. I ignored his advice and bought NXTL at 13. I think I'll ignore his selling also.

The story is still the same as it has been. There is only so much bandwidth available. NXTL owns a lot of it. They are building out a huge footprint. When they are done burning cash on infrastructure, this company will be a cash cow. If NXTL offers services more valuable than its rivals, the cash generated could be substantial.

Klein: selling when only a few weeks ago was predicting 1000

Well actually a few times he said 10,000!!!! Remember when I was talking about being a millionaire with Nextel only?????
Well Dell went back up , my margin is fine, and I still have my nextel so all is well with the world for one more day.:o)
How to live dangerously.
And to think it was only 18 short months ago that I had never heard of margin and never invested in anything but mutual funds and Coca Cola (which I should have kept!!!!!VVVVBG).
On the other hand my first "other" was USRX which gave me a wilder ride than either nextel or Dell and still made me good money before it deserted all we loyal usrx holders.
I dont think I'll listen to Klein anymore. He is not really an investor, he is more worried about the month to month bottom line of his clients (maybe, how do I know?) than the real long range profitability of companies.
Back to Peter Lynch's book.

This time when I panicked I just ate chocolate: didnt sell anything. I'm very proud: another milestone. Next 150 off day with Naz off 26 maybe I can substitute carrots for chocolate and be healthier too!
