Zip Code (02194) and Postal Code 4M6 H5J are most definitely not the same thing.

I'll add modifiers... logically they're they same. I agree that physically they different.

In the context of the business that's pumping out mail, that space in an address that the various global postal services expect in address lines as zip/post/postal codes is LOGICALLY the same, regardless of the physical representation in either numbers or characters.

It all depends on how you look at it. From a users perspective zip/postal are the same (real estate in an address). From a programmers perspective they are different.
