Unitec International Controls Corp UICShares issued 178690961998-05-25 close $0.35Tuesday May 26 1998Mr. John Smyth reports The company has received its third flood forecasting and warning system for JPSS, the Malaysian State of Selangor Drainage Authority. This contract valued in the low six figures comes three months after delivery and installation of the JPSS II project. This system consists of a Master Station with Host Computer and Unitec Gold software, which monitors a series of rainfall monitoring and river level gauging stations. The system collects and trends rainfall and river level data and extrapolates trends to control tidal gates and flood warning sirens. Every year, floods cause incalculable losses in damage to life and property in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries. Unitec's systems provide early warning and control to mitigate damages or prevent such losses. Selangor occupies 3,166 square miles on the western Malay peninsula, with Kuala Lumpur the nation's capital. Unitec has several flood warning SCADA systems in operation in Malaysia and Indonesia and several million dollars in outstanding quotations and requests for proposals for similar systems.
