>>>The squeal of the squeezed short has a certain appeal to a long-term investor, too.<<<

Why? Short squeezes are usually short lived, and add no long term value. Further, they are detrimental in the fact that they add overhead supply to the stock in the form of neophytes who bought in at unsustainable prices and will sell at the first chance to recoup their loss. The only advantage to the "long term investor" is in selling into the strength, and repurchasing at a lower price. Of course once you do that, you are by definition a trader, and not an investor. The only other thing that I could see is some appeal to the base emotions, that being a desire to see your "enemy" suffer, in which case you are letting your emotions into the investment process. If I find myself doing that, I have to step back from that particular name because the one of the more dangerous things in the market is to trade under the influence of emotion.

The truth is if your a long term investor, then you really shouldn't care about the short sellers, because they are inherently short term investors. But the fact of the matter is that on every thread I've visited to date, when the longs start saying the things I've seen being said here, the price declines. If there were serious deceptions coming from the short side, and you could document them, then I'd think you would. It is not in your better interest to allow these things to become ingrained in the public perception of the company. The fact that you do not counter with rational arguments and documentation tells me you have none.
