Being a CPA myself , it bothers me to see the diminution of standards , respect , etc. for what used to be a profession. Now it's just a service , very price competitive , and the negotiating points often revolve around how lenient the auditors will be in key areas. The stamp of approval means less and less as the years go by , and now it's largely perfunctory. I would guess that half the financials out there have some really questionable stuff in them , if not being an out-and-out scam. Too bad for all of us trying to make rational buy/sell decisions; makes it more of a crapshoot.
