Customer-Specific Computing Leader Brings High-End Performance to Demanding Field
Applications

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Fie1dWorks, Inc. (Nasdaq: FWRX) today
announced a new product offering, the FW5000 Series II, as well as major performance and
feature updates to its FW7000 Series rugged workstation.

"FieldWorks is delivering the performance our customers tell us they need -- a flexible, rock-solid
platform that brings desktop-computing power to the field and helps them get the job done in any
environment," said Bob Szymborski, chief technical officer and vice president of product planning,
FieldWorks. "With these new industry-leading systems, FieldWorks now offers its customers even
greater versatility and performance."

Available immediately, the FW5000 Series II and the updated FW7000 Series Field
WorkStations(R) incorporate 200-MHz Pentium(R) processors, making them among the fastest
workstations available in the rugged mobile computing industry. Both are priced less than previous
166-MHz counterparts despite new standard features like Windows 95, 1.3GB hard drives, and
increased RAM and CACHE. The 5000 Series II also has as standard 4 MB of video RAM and a
new S3 video chip set for outstanding video performance. New options include a 3.2GB removable
hard drive and Windows NT.

The 5000 Series II and 7000 Series are ideal for applications in transportation, medical, utility,
public safety and government/military markets. The workstations' modular design and open
architecture allow easy creation of customer-specific configurations.

By incorporating upgradeable technologies in highly reliable, versatile computing platforms,
FieldWorks 5000 Series II and 7000 Series systems offer continued high performance over a long
life span, resulting in low total cost of ownership.

FW5000 Series II Field WorkStation

Although cosmetically similar, the Series II represents a complete redesign of the previous FW5000
Series. It incorporates a new, simpler technology module -- which houses the CPU and all critical
electronics -- and a number of performance-enhancing features. Its unique rugged magnesium frame
and four customizable module bays remain. The Series II is forward compatible with -- that is,
easily upgraded to -- higher-performing processors, as well as larger hard drives, new displays and
other new technologies.

New features for the FW5000 Series II include:

-- 200-MHz Pentium processor;
-- New high-performance S3 video with 4 MB DRAM;
-- 3.2GB removable hard drive option;
-- 16 MB RAM with a $95 32-MB option and options up to 128 MB;
-- Scaled push-button brightness and power controls; and
-- Installed Windows 95, with Windows NT option.
FW7000 Series
Designed as a highly configurable laptop workstation with six ISA/PCI
expansion slots, the updated FW7000 Series offers a 200-MHz Pentium processor,
providing a distinct performance advantage over its nearest competitor. The
new 200-MHz 7000 is also forward compatible with higher-performing processors.
In addition, older Pentium 7000s can be upgraded to 200 MHz.
New features for the FW7000 Series include:
-- 3.2GB internal and removable hard drive options;
-- 256 MB RAM option -- double the maximum memory available previously;
-- Standard internal 100-250 VAC and 10.5-30 VDC worldwide power supply;
and
-- Installed Windows 95, with Windows NT option.

Today, a team of explorers and physicians from Yale University and the U.S. Army are performing
the first-ever telemedicine on Mount Everest climbers using FW7000 Series systems specifically
configured for medical data acquisition and transmission. For more information on these
telemedicine solutions, please see the USA TODAY Web site.
