You do not have to call in ahead of time to sell short.<<<

I had the same thing in my application packet, about the call to make sure the stock was available. I got the impression that it was for overnight positions though.

The hard to borrow list looked awfully long to me. I believe they listed every one of my bread and butter shorts on it. It doesn't really matter to me if they can short sell 8900 out of 9000 if 9 of 10 on my watch list are included.
