Gemcom Software Wins Contract with Falconbridge

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Gemcom Software International Inc., a
leading supplier of information technology for the earth resources
industry, today announced that it has signed a contract to supply
the worldwide exploration operations of Falconbridge Limited with
its Gemcom for Windows software system. This open-database
application is expected to become a global corporate standard for
Falconbridge's exploration activities. The contract represents an
important strategic milestone for Gemcom in pursuing its corporate
objective of becoming the database standard for all major
international exploration and mining companies.

Under the terms of the contract, Gemcom will provide the software
to each of Falconbridge's exploration offices in Canada and
worldwide, for a total of 38 licenses. Gemcom has also been
contracted to provide training and support for the software.
Application installation will begin immediately, with training
scheduled for completion over the next few months.

"We were looking for a software solution using open-database
standards that could be used quickly and accurately by everyone on
our exploration team," says Falconbridge's Manager of Exploration
Information Peter Campbell. "After a thorough evaluation of all
possible alternatives, we chose Gemcom because they provide a
proven system that's also robust enough to handle our largest
drillhole databases."

"The scope of this contract further demonstrates Gemcom's dominant
position as the software standard within the global mining
industry," said Peter Franklin, President and CEO of Gemcom. "As
large mining companies continue to improve their operating
efficiency through enhanced information systems, many are looking
to standardize with open database solutions. We intend to be the
leading provider of those application standards."

Falconbridge also recently signed a corporate licensing agreement
with Gemcom's strategic partner Century Systems Technologies for
its drillhole logging software application DHLogger. DHLogger is
used in the field by Falconbridge's exploration and mining
geologists to electronically collect exploration data from
drillholes. This data will seamlessly integrate into the Gemcom
for Windows database enabling the user to view geological data in
3-dimensional models, test geological theories, and build computer
geological models to aid in the targeting of drill sites, thereby
improving the odds of exploration success.

"We are very pleased to be working with Century Systems on this
project, our first as part of a formal alliance between our two
companies," Franklin says. "This contract with Falconbridge is a
good example of how we are able to offer a more complete
technological solution to our customers by working together."
