joe, no, slip.net was not used. I think there are quite a few
ISPs around the nation that are now V.90. This was just a "false"
claim by slip.net that they were "first" or the story was an old
story and posted May 25 or they meant they were the "first" Nationwide
ISP. My brother uses a "local" ISP and I was there when he used my
updated Sportster to do V.90 to V.90 connections.

Does this mean that your brother uses Slip.Net?
Or am I missing something?
