Imagine the tone of the 1998 annual meeting! My guess is that the event will held on the last possible day in August, and Ken will not be there (a sudden engagement, so sorry). A syncophantic few will explain the downturn with an almost drunken brashness, and several stockholders will come to the lecturn and speak with disdain and occasional rage, all to no avail. Who is more ridiculous, dear reader: a manager who does not know enough to step aside (as if holding office were itself a goal) or an investor who helps pay for the man's upkeep? Or do you see it differently?
