Andrew, can you do a few more tests? I don't think anyone doubted that the Magicom existed. The question is really: does Magicon represent a compelling value for $1995 per unit? Is there any chance that lots of people will buy the device at that price? In my mind, the issue has been the screen. Is it technology worth pursuing? I gather that this particular screen will never do video, or color. Both of these functionalities are necessary to attack a high-end market where there might be significant profit margins. I'm not sure that I can think of many significant uses for a static, PDA sized, monochrome screen. Can you? In any case: If you have to turn the screen off and on to blank it, does that mean that it flickers each time? If you make a correction or a drawing on the screen, can you erase a mistake, or do you have to start all over again with scanning, and correcting or drawing? If you tap on the screen with an image, what happens? If you turn the phone on its edge so that the screen is vertical, what happens? Do you end up with a lot of light colored "noise" or "fuzz"? How hard do you have to press on the screen to make it work with the pen? Is pressure the problem that you have with using the pen? Does the scanner reproduce colors? How is the grey scale reproduction of the screen? Is it just black and white a la bar codes or can it do in between shades? If you scan a photograph, how is the grey scale on it? Having two instruments working over a telephone switch is something that has never been really reported. Having two devices scan or draw while a voice communication is going on seems sketchy. How long does it take for a page to scan? If the screen is filled with an image from one page, will a newly scanned page replace the image? Is the image retained if you turn the instrument on and off? Or do you have to rescan it in? Does the screen display noise when you press the number buttons? How hot does the screen and device become? How loud is the fan? Can you turn off the screen and fan between uses? How long does the screen take to warm up? Thanks, KW
