On my list might be a few economists like Alan Greenspan and Milton Friedman but I can't think of a single politician that fits that status.

I think Alan Greenspan knows full well the dynamics and ramifications of this issue. His comments could not be ignored. However, I doubt that he will address the matter. As Chairman of the Fed, he may see this as outside his purview. Hope I'm wrong. He is in a position to do immeasurable good for the future of the economy.
