QUALCOMM's operator investments include NEXTWAVE TELECOM.The C block entities have to disclose by early June their intentions to the FTC.QUALCOMM's spin off could help raise capital for NEXTWAVE as it trades as part of the spin off.Could this be a new start for NEXTWAVE as Well as QUALCOMM in restructuring itself?

Gregg (and others) is it clear to you that Qcom has effective patents on W-CDMA, regardless of which of the two competing versions becomes commercialized?

As I understand it, the GSM boys are pushing for a version that is not backwards compatible with CDMAone, but is compatible as an overlay on the GSM systems.

Qcom and its CDMAone allies are pushing for a W-CDMA version that is compatible with both GSM and CMDAone. At a small cost to total bandwidth capacity.

Would both versions be equally subject to Qcom's royalty requirements?

How significant would the lack of capability with CDMAone be? Are we talking all new network equipment, or merely new handsets for users?
