marc, even if you >toss< your money into a mutual fund, the market can still be just as frustrating. A fund (or group of funds) gives you better diversification, but then it's hard to know who you're supposed to be cheering for.

And funds are a lot less exciting (which is sometimes not that bad). Can you imagine owning a fund that behaved like APM?

Marc, this time I do not share your opinion. Market is acting like a drunk old man. One day everyone is pessimistic, next day they start talking about Dow 10,000 again. I think we will reach there but not before a correction. Although market sprang back quite convincingly from the day lows today, how can we say we have established a bottom?
IMO, do not beat yourself up. I've never bought at the bottom of any cup yet. It never bothered me. :-)
