Hello Peter V and JTC:
Thank you for pointing me to LEAP's. Now I understand how a put can have more than 9 months life ahead. From JTC's description, these are the kind of instruments I should develop a greater interest in--longer term, potentially leveraged, out of the money, and possibly out of favor with the shorter term traders who plan to beat me and most every one else to the exits.... Personally I favor near out of the money puts that pose multiples of gain if the market rationalizes. Zitel puts are an example. With Zitel, if it is not this quarter, then the next, or the next. The multiplier potential more than compensates for contracts expiring worthless.
Best regards,
m
