Leroy,

I agree. The real story is when ADSL gets deployed over the next two years, mass market style. We see many of the telcos announcing deployments starting in 1998. GTE starts to deploy Orckit next month, according to its PR. So, when does the money move into the ADSL sector. Very soon, I hope.

Hal

leroy--

i did not mean to give you the impression that i am upset, quite the contrary. i am very happy that i have been able to pick up so many great companies on the cheap.

the problem is that the market will overreact to the upside when the announcements are made. my comment works both ways.

as for your points, i discount the cablecos as being a really big threat almost automatically. the game has not yet begun. these guys are going full out in their deployments, while the telcos are moving slowly, if at all. when this changes, favor will swing to the telcos quickly.

on the pricing issue, i cannot agree more. but, if the telcos cant the subscribers at price 1, they will rejigger and offer better pricing. my bet is that the national average will be about 65 per month.

good luck to all,
trey

<1. There MUST be an accepted international (or at least national) standard.>

There is but greed will tear most anything apart. The standard that is being kicked around now is referred to as sub rate when it should be called sub standard. Notice that Cisco's modems which will be an option in Dell pc's are CAP based. Someone correct me if this is mis info. which gives substance to Wstl's game plan. Its now just a matter of execution which remains to be seen.

Regards,

Dug
