Mang, Cable modems are very improtant for two reasons:

1.They will sell lots of them.

2. Most importantly they will carry much higher margins than 56k.

I just also hope they will enter the ADSL mkt too.

btw....looks like I was wrong for today's close. Congrats joe and others who called COMS up.

Cable Modem is not working near 3COM.
I live l0 minutes drive from COMS and we have no other choice than use COM21's cable modem since the choice is not on the users side. It is up to the cable company --Cable co-op here in Palo Alto.
After a month of testing, the conclusion is that the Cable modem in Palo Alto is not useful since it could not maintain continuous connection. I can not even maintain the connection between my COM21 cable modem with the gateway. The cable company was not been able to solve the problem. Returning from a special cable modem club meeting, I found that almost all users here in Palo Alto have the same problem in different scale. From the technical point of view, this cable modem project has been failed in this city. I hope it is not happening with COMS' cable modem and I would like to hear commends from any other Cable Modem user.

cable modems are important, many of us hope they will be around to push down the prices of dsl and force the telcos to deploy more quickly than they did isdn.
