beachman, what's the deal with the pessimism? ASND has great new products right
now. For competitive reasons, many customer decisions are being made right now,
not in late 1998 and early 1999 when LU and CSCO products are expected
(vaporware for now) -- a full year behind ASND.

Well-said djane. Not only that, but it appears the LU product actually complements Ascend's ATM switches (if it actually works, which I really wonder about). "PacketStar" appears to me to be a queuing/routing device, nothing more. Feels to me to be more hype than anything substantial. The only place this device can function is at the edge of a carrier's network. We all know Ascend's products are for the switching core.
