Re: But Wintel workstations are going to be sold as a
commodity at low markup

There will be and currently is a huge opportunity for profits
in this are while the transition takes place. Were talking
at least 3 years. That OTHER architecture i.e. SUN will have
to go out of business before WinTel Workstations margins erode
to the point where desktops are now (not in absolute terms
but relatively). There is still a huge disparity between pricing
regarding these two distinct platforms.

You should also be aware that these workstations will define the high end portion of the demand curve indefinitely, or until tech innovation
ceases. This leading edge is where profits will remain strong.

If you are predicting the demise of PC's, you not be looking at
where technology is headed.

Take RMBS for instance. Intel is not reconsidering, RMBS will
be a defacto standard on their flagship chipsets within 12 mos.
Better load up on RMBS stock while it's cheap. Are you aware of
the quantum leap in speed and scalability RMBS offers up over
SDRAM? Sounds like you may not be sure. Are you aware of what
the Camino chipset will offer? The impact of this
alone will be profound.

Your views are probably correct, just 15 years too soon.
