This LU thing sounds like a new gadget cooked up by the engineers at Bell Labs. They may know how to design good voice switching technology, but data is a totally new enchilada.

Bucky... I think you're right on this one. But let's not forget Livingston.

If Cisco hasn't thought of and explored this technology already, then I really have serious doubts as to whether it's viable. It's not that easy to resolve end-to-end WAN QoS issues.

I'm not sure what you're eluding to here but Cisco is Waaaaaaay down the path on QoS over both layer 2 and layer 3 architectures. I think this will become evident over the next few months.
