Pakistan just detonated three nuclear bombs. Looks like the next step will be Pakistan and India going after each other with long range missiles. I though the Cold War is over. Apparently it isn't, it just moved to another region of this small world. The Far East is the region where the next big conflicts of mankind are going to happen in my opinion.

Brian,

I believe that your conference call memory is correct.

However, it seems that industry may have worsened since the conference call. Morgan said that AMAT would do all possible to avoid layoffs. This week there was an incremental $.05 reduction to earnings for the quarter (which will probably be treated as a 1-time charge) with a VSP announced. At least Morgan is selectively applying the program rather than giving his best resources a signing bonus if they will only go to the competition.

Ian.

Still not back in, but keeping a close watch.

Given that the tech stocks won't go up much between now and the end of July, I doubt that AMAT will go higher than 35 under the best scenario.
