Yes its great - And here are a response from a lurker here who is in the type of business also having the "Minority Status" Describing the advantage that gives:

Federal law in the US requires on specific projects that x% of the total job be awarded to minority owned companies, irregardless if they submitted the lowest price.

Example, Flour is awarded as contractor a 10,000,000 job and on this job there is a 12% minority participation requirement. ARET would be able to assist FLOUR by bidding on work, or just be given it by FLOUR so that they meet the 12% requirement. Equals 1,200,000. Now ARET must do and/or subcontract out that work.

It is often very difficult to come up with minority firms and it is very helpful in our industry to have a friendly relationship with a minority firm as it sometimes guarantees us work. We will sell our concrete pipe, sand, and stone to them first instead of the contractor so that the job meets the % requirement.

Thanks that is also a very positive angle here !!!
