Just for example I went to VIAS as the very first choice to see if ALL companies do this as you implied. Here is one of their latest press releases. biz.yahoo.com There is no information on Viasoft or Computer Horizons in there as to where they were incorporated.

John that is about one of the most ignorant points you have made to date. Go look at that press release again that you cite there, bucko. Note that both the companies referenced there are reporting companies.

Here are the Edgar filings for both:

edgar-online.com
edgar-online.com

Whereas who ever heard of any of these companies? So lest you forget the question:

Where are Merced, Telanis, and Zitec incorporated?

Normal press releases regarding licensing agreements and strategic alliances contain phrases such as: XXXXXTech, a Mountain View, California-based company, specializes in the development of blah blah; among its products are blah blah. Then there're usually quotes from executives of both firms in which they enthusiastically natter on about what a great fit the deal will be. Generally contact info for both companies is given.

Incorporation information is offered in annual reports and--obviously--in 10Qs and 10Ks. You know: the "company history" part. Non-reporting companies would do well to make this material available elsewhere.
