RE:"In particular, two countries with the means and a strong incentive are Taiwan and S. Korea."

Jacob, very interesting perspective. But if we look at fundamental forces which keeps N.Korea and China in check, we will find out it is the mighty US military. So, IMHO, the last thing Taiwan and S.Korea will do is to get a nuke.

I looked at the actions(not words) US and other countries took after India tested the bombs, somehow I got the impression that everybody was not interested in stopping Pakistan doing the same. I guess that most of people believing in balancing of power. Why not let them have the nukes and missiles then sign a treaty to prevent both conventional and nuclear war?

RE:"This is exactly the kind of unanticipated external shock that could send AMAT to 13."

With such external shock, AMAT can let go most of employee and keep the balance book in black(So can Microsoft). What will happen to Intel? Fire all the fabs and expensive equipment? If I had Intel in my portfolio, I will pray for world peace.
