Ericsson Signs $210 Million Contract Agreement With Rogers Cantel in Canada

STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1998--Ericsson and Rogers Cantel Inc. have announced a new three-year master purchase agreement
with an estimated value of $210 million over a three year period.

Within the agreement Ericsson will continue to be the principle vendor of D-AMPS IS-136 wireless network infrastructure and services to Rogers Cantel in Canada.
Under the terms of the agreement it could also be extended annually for up to two additional years.

forward with our Digital PCS network, we will provide an increasing number of services and products to our customers, and Ericsson software and hardware will be
integral to our success.''

There are approximately 80 million subscribers using D-AMPS/AMPS networks worldwide. D-AMPS was the first technology to be commercially available as a
dual-band (800/1900 MHz) and dual- mode (analog/digital) technology. Over 11 million subscribers are already using D-AMPS digital services.

Rogers Cantel Mobile Communications Inc., an 81 percent owned subsidiary of Rogers Communications Inc. [NYSE:RG - news] owns and operates Canada's
largest wireless company. Cantel offers a full range of wireless communication services including voice, data and paging under the co-brand Cantel(R) AT&T (TM).

Thanks Jim, I've printed & will read the post.

My core holdings actually are Lucent & Ericy, and am confident
that I can give them minimal attention when I am traveling.

I also picked up a few shares of NT -- time will tell if that
was a wise move.

Also hold Ascend shares, which were obtained when Ascend bought
Cascade Communications.
One of these days, I shall consider selling Ascend and picking
up more Lucent.
