Thursday May 28, 12:04 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release SOURCE: Zitel Corporation Zitel and Partner FDC Technologies Awarded Year 2000 Contract by the National Institute of Health FREMONT, Calif., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Zitel Corporation (Nasdaq: ZITL - news) announced today that it will begin Year 2000 computer code remediation for the National Institute of Health (NIH) through a subcontract with its teaming partner FDC Technologies. In the first phase of work, Zitel will be utilizing the MatriDigm Millenium Control System (MICOS) to analyze MVS Cobol code, and then remediate and test the code using the MAP2000(SM) process. Zitel will be the subcontractor to FDC Technologies and terms of the subcontract were not disclosed. Arthur L. Chait, Zitel's Vice President and General Manager said, ''FDC is recognized as one of the leading systems integrators to the Federal Government. We announced our teaming agreement with FDC last year and this contract marks the beginning of what we anticipate to be a very successful partnership.'' Frank Carlucci, FDC's Director of Major Programs said, ''We carefully select our subcontractors, and we believe that Zitel's offering is one of the most compelling solutions we've seen. Zitel's Year 2000 services complement our products and services and provide more value to our Federal clients.'' Chait stated, ''We did two pilots for the NIH last year. Those projects helped demonstrate the capability of the MAP2000 technology and the factory process in two ways. First, they showed the speed and accuracy of the MAP2000 process and the value of the automatic testing. Each line of renovated code is automatically tested, confirming that all modifications are successful and all original code logic is protected. The process results in renovated code that is so good it may allow customers to minimize additional testing, saving time and money.'' ''Second, the NIH pilots demonstrated the power of the continuous learning process that is part of the MAP2000 technology. The first pilot identified exceptions that had not been seen before. The factory analyzed these exceptions, added additional rules to MAP2000, and the second pilot sailed right through. This is clearly one of the key advantages to our factory approach since the rules-base is constantly increasing. Today, the rules-base has become even more sophisticated, the number of exceptions has dropped to a low value, and the level of automation is very high. It would be almost impossible to get this effect by buying tools and doing the work in-house.'' About FDC Technologies: FDC Technologies is the operating subsidiary of Federal Data Corporation.
